Jose R Araujo Sr., 83 of Los Fresnos, TX, formerly of Whiting, IN passed away on June 26,2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, TX. He was born August 1, 1927 in Brownsville, TX. He spent 37 years as a member of the LTV Steel Corporation in Youngstown, IN. He worked his way up from ditch digger to crane operator. For the past 19 years, he has called Los Fresnos his home. He married Maria L Lugo on October 10, 1944. Jose was a member of the United States Air Force. He participated in the rebuilding of France following the end of WWII. In addition to his parents Espidiron and Catarina Araujo, he was preceded in death by his sisters Lalita Miller and Virgina Escobedo and his daughter Catherine Soria. Surviving family members include his wife of 67 years, Maria Luisa Araujo, four children Maria Montez, Jose Araujo Jr. and wife Andrea Araujo, Alice Czerekaviczius and husband Victor, Rita Cardenas and husband Samuel, and his sister Minnie Miller. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Kevin Czerekaviczius, Chrissy Czerekaviczius , Tammy Soria (Plesha), Richard Soria Jr., Anthony Montez, Kelly Araujo (Santos), and Jeremiah Czerekaviczius. He also had three great grandchildren Joey, Brandon, and Courtney.
